I must begin this journey pointing all arrows back to Christ, so if you find yourself reading this and you did not plan on hearing about God and His beauty then I urge you to stop reading, because you will get nothing but encouragement of a beautiful Savior and the way He is moving.
“And it is best to learn this patience in our youth. When we suffer we should sit alone in silent patience; we should bow in submission, for there may still be hope. Even if beaten and insulted, we should accept it all. The Lord is merciful and will not reject us.” Lamentations 3: 27-313
We as women, are constantly pulled in every which way. Our minds racing; pacing back and forth, over pointless and momentary idolizations of things or people that quite frankly, have no business taking captive of our every thought, worry and tear. YOLO is a word that unfortunately our generation seems to worship and use to justify their actions. So, how do we as young Christian women in society find the balance between not worrying ourselves silly but not being mindless and careless like our fellow peers? One word comes to mind. Submission.
I’m a pretty free spirited and independent person ( hence the random hair chopping) so submission is a word that I not only just didn’t get but didn’t welcome. My thought was: Don’t tell me what to do? Im young and dumb. I’m going live it up! I have it all wrong. Submission isn’t a bad thing. Submission to the LORD is where perfect harmony can be found. No longer is it my worry as to what will happen in my future; its Gods! And guess what ladies? He welcomes this burden, he invites us to give EVERY moment to Him Luke 8:22-25 paints a beautiful picture ‘ “Master, Master we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and raging waters; the storm subsided and all was calm. “where is your faith?” Christ ask.’
He never said there wasn’t going to be storms, but He says, Hey!! I’ve got this? where’s your faith, daughters? I have you through the storms, DUH? When things come up, when the winds get crazy and the storms brew, trust that the Lord has it! Why are we so busy worrying and not on our knees praising Him who holds everything in His hands; who calms our storms and who even REBUKES the storms. Submit every worrisome thought, every tear and every doubt you have brewing inside you. He’s got this!
AT THE SAME TIME. Let’s be real, we want to have fun! Submission can’t be fun, can it? YES! Why? Because Gods will is perfect and without fault. I truly believe if we would just submit our every thought and breath, action and desires. We would be able to see that having adventure is possible, as well as being completely in submission to the will of Christ.
Take a girl who’s applied to college, several colleges, and is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her acceptance letters. When she receives none, she becomes sad and angry with God. She did everything right, made the good grades, told her small group about how good she felt, and even spent countless hours praying that she’d get in and everything would be awesome. Everything was right. So whats up? She begins worrying what this means for her life. College, no college? So how does she know? I’ll tell you. Prayer.
‘Pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the spirit.’ ( 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18) Do nothing without praying to God.. “your will be done, I submit this to you. Let it be in your will, not mine” Turns out, God was calling her to stay at home and go to a local college. While there she felt led to begin a small group and was used as a missionary in her home town. How beautiful is that? We get so worried that God isn’t going to let us have fun, be adventurous, or even think for ourselves if we submit to Him. But how wrong we are! If we give it to Him our thoughts and hearts will align with His will. We will ultimately be blessed beyond our wildest dreams. ‘Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. The person who aligns with me hungers no more, thirst no more, ever.”’ (John 6:35)
How do we stop worrying and taking things into our own hands? Submission
How do we have fun, feel joy, and true bliss? Submission
How do we achieve as young women of Christ a life full of adventure as well as true submission to the Lord? Prayer and the willingness to let God take absolute control.
This week, join me in this challenge.
Give one simple thing to Him, by being prayerful about it.
Ladies. As we begin this journey together, let’s begin to rise up and not stand for the weary and momentary concepts of this world we live in. Let’s be lights together. We as sisters know one another’s hearts, so lets share in the simple daily struggles. Together! So that we can stop feeling alone and we can start a heart change.
